Secure Store Service Error

If you attempt to generate a New Key for the Secure Store Service, you may receive the following error: An error occurred during the “Generate Key” process. Please try again or contact your administrator. On the Event Log of the SharePoint server, this error may appear:

To resolve this, add the user that is attempting to generate the key to the SharePoint Farm Administrators group.

    i wish to add one thing: my user is one of the farm administrator but he acts as system account, and i get the error as well.
    I use a different farm administrator and i can generate the new key

  2. Fabio, I actually found the opposite! I was only able to generate a new key when logged in as the managed account defined as the "farm administrator". Using a different account which was also in the Farm Admins group was not sufficient…

  3. I get the same error logged as a member of the Farm Admins, or as the Farm Admin account.

  6. The account I am using is the installer account. It has all the rights. It is in the farm admins group. I added it to the secure store service permissions with full control. The DBAs verified that the installer account has db_owner permissions on the secure store database.

    I still get the error.
